WVSU-Pototan TVET trainer is finalist in 2016 Tagsanay Awards

TVET trainer Virginia B. Parrenas, an associate professor of West Visayas State University-Pototan campus, was one of eight finalists in this year’s Tagsanay Awards. She also got the award for Best in Portfolio Assessment.

A nominee of the TESDA Iloilo Provincial Office, Dr. Parrenas is an expert in the Cookery and Food and Beverage Services (FBS) qualifications. For several years now, she has trained and helped hundreds of WVSU students graduate to find a job or set up their own business.

Aklan PO nominee is Lenore O. Medina, Tech-Voc department head of Saint Gabriel College, Inc. in Kalibo. A nurse by profession, her expertise lies in health care services.

Both contestants from Region 6 participated in the intensive selection processes conducted at the TESDA Central Office in Manila on September 18-21, 2016. Awarding ceremonies were held September 22, 2016 at the TESDA Women’s Center, TESDA Complex in Taguig, Metro Manila with Director General/Sec. Guiling Mamondiong as guest of honor.

Tagsanay Awards is given annually to outstanding trainers of technical-vocational courses in recognition of their expertise and contribution to the development and implementation of technical-vocational education and training (TVET) in the country. (AED/IPO/TESDA-RO6)
